Center at the Mall was honored to host Governor Tom Wolf, Department of Banking and Securities Secretary Robin L. Wiessmann and Department of Aging Secretary Teresa Osborne on Tuesday, June 13.

Wolf addressed more than 150 Center members and guests, the Beaver County Commissioners and the Beaver County Office on Aging regarding the administration's position to help protect senior citizens from financial scams and fraud. He noted that elder financial abuse is currently one of the most significant financial crimes of the 21st century, estimating the cost to older Americans is $36 billion each year.

Financial fraud education is critical, he said, with more than 12,000 baby boomers turning 65 each day. These seniors are vunerable targets for financial scammers.

Seniors, their caregivers and family members are asked to contact local representatives or the Department of Banking and Finance directly at 1-800-PA-BANKS.
