It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas – Residents Decorate St. John

The magic of Christmas overtook The Residence at St. John when residents came together for a festive floor decoration extravaganza, spreading joy, laughter, and plenty of holiday cheer.

Cookies and holiday treats fueled the creative energy as everyone pitched in to decorate several trees with ornaments as well as hang stockings. Adding a personal touch, many residents expressed their individuality by decorating their own doors with beautiful wreaths and other creative visuals.

“Family time, a special time with people who become your family,” explained resident Jill Blower about the holiday decorating event. “This time of year, it’s about coming together and enjoying each other’s company”

Beth Stutzenburg, Community Liaison LIFE Programs, and the duo Angie Gaiser and Kayla Stiner from Visiting Nurses Association lent their creative talents to help residents decorate their doors. Michelle Pekich of ComForCare Home Care also joined in, spreading the holiday joy to the resident lounge doors. After they finished decorating, the residents had the chance to meet with these amazing organizations to learn more about their services can benefit them.

“It’s a sense of community,” said Gina Strasbaugh, Marketing Coordinator for St. John about the day. “The Residence at St. John has so much warmth and happiness about it. Decorating for Christmas is fun and builds even stronger friendships between all of the residents.”

Hot Chocolate Happiness

The ladies of Overbrook Pointe recently gathered for a hot chocolate get-together, all thanks to resident Betty Abdon. Betty welcomed over 20 ladies, asking each to bring their own special mug and to share the story behind it.

“It makes me feel good that so many of you came,” said Abdon. “We’re gonna have some hot chocolate, some marshmallows, tell stories, and act like we are little kids again.”

The ladies sipped hot cocoa, told stories and ate homemade pumpkin and banana bread that was baked by Abdon.  It was a heartening event that highlighted the close friendships and special bonds the residents of Overbrook Pointe share.
