Christmas Magic at Passavant Abundant Lights Ceremony

Passavant Community transformed into an enchanting wonderland on December 2nd, as residents and guests gathered for their annual Abundant Lights Celebration.  The Abundant Lights Ceremony is meant to help bring the community together as well as raise funds that support the Benevolent Care Fund. The festive event unfolded with a lineup of activities that captivated attendees of all ages.

A major highlight of the day was the appearance of Pittsburgh Pirates All-Star closer, David Bednar, who graciously met fans and signed autographs. The children were especially thrilled, their faces lighting up with excitement as they interacted Bednar, making it a day to remember for young fans and baseball enthusiasts alike. Beloved holiday characters also made appearances throughout the event including Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, the Grinch and his loyal dog Max, and a princess spread joy and laughter, creating a magical atmosphere for families to revel in the festive season.

A poignant and heartfelt ceremony was the lighting of luminaries and the placement of tribute tags with names of loved ones on Christmas Trees in the Abundant Life Center. These tags and luminaries create a beautiful and emotional display of remembrance during this holiday season.

“The response from people purchasing the tags this year was wonderful, and we appreciate the commitment to Passavant Community and the people served every day,” explained Jane Bittcher, President of the Lutheran SeniorLife Foundation. “The Abundant Lights celebration at Passavant Community provides an opportunity for residents, and members of the community, to celebrate the holiday season with friends and family members.

This event is one that takes a massive amount of time and coordination and the staff at Passavant does a wonderful job to put on such a memorable day.

“I am overwhelmed as I consider the amount of time and effort that went into making the evening a success,” said Laura Roy, Executive Director at Passavant Community. “The team gave themselves through their time, talent and creativity. There really are no words that sufficiently express my gratitude!  They are an amazing group of people and it is such an honor to serve alongside each of them!”

“The evening was perfect in every way.  It was a beautiful way to celebrate Advent and the beautiful spirit of this community, and I am grateful for all who came and made us part of their holiday celebrations!,” added Roy. “My hope is that it filled your heart with joy and know that the Passavant team went above and beyond to make this day perfect.”
