LIFE Beaver County Participants Set Sail on Caribbean Adventure Without Leaving Home Posted on June 26, 2026 Adventure isn’t always measured by how far you go. Sometimes it’s measured by how often you forget you’re still in Beaver County. As part of a weeklong summer theme, LIFE Beaver County participants traded their daily routines for island time and set sail on a Caribbean cruise from the Bahamas to Key West—without ever leaving the center. The voyage began in the Bahamas with beach volleyball and boat races before travelers made their way to Bermuda for a daring excursion into the Bermuda Triangle. Good news: everybody made it back. In Puerto Rico, Recreation Therapy Manager Sheila Toomey brought participants to Mosquito Bay, home to the world’s brightest bioluminescent bay (according to Guinness World Records), where glow sticks transformed the room into shimmering shades of blue. Jamaica had everyone embracing the island spirit with participants saying, “Don’t worry about a thing,” as they sang plenty of Bob Marley under the sun. Back onboard, Dan Hogan provided the soundtrack for Happy Hour while the recreation team kept the mocktails flowing and the good times rolling. The final stop in the Florida Keys brought more tropical fun with entertainment from Vintage Debbie and Davey. In Key West, participants wrangled gators, explored the Hemingway House, and quickly discovered that Hemingway’s famous six-toed cats were impossible not to love. No passports were stamped. No luggage was lost. No sunscreen was required. Not bad for a vacation that never left Beaver County.
