Not many. LIFE Beaver County, has two of them. For two days, the most popular seat at the LIFE Beaver Luau wasn’t in the shade or next to snow cone stand. It wasn’t even dry. It sat above a tank of water, where two bus drivers willingly signed up for what might go down as the wettest assignment in LIFE Beaver history. Every participant’s throw that found the target ended the same way—with a splash, a cheer from the crowd, and two volunteers climbing right back up, laughing before the water had a chance to drip off. That was the LIFE Beaver Luau. The photo booth stayed busy too with tropical poses, big smiles, and plenty of accessories that somehow made every picture better. The caricature artist had the easiest job in the room. Just exaggerate the smile. There was also the palm tree. Not exactly something you’d expect to find in Beaver County. Hidden inside were squishy little sea creatures waiting to be found. Participants searched through the tree, hoping to uncover one and claim their prize. Months from now, no one will remember what time the luau started. But they’ll remember the fun picture drawn picture of themself, the laughs, and they’ll remember the two bus drivers who volunteered to take the plunge. And judging by the smiles in these photos, those two drivers would probably climb right back into that seat tomorrow.
