St. John Expansion Project Nears Completion

St. John Expansion Project The St. John Community initiative will soon come to fruition, expanding affordable housing opportunities for middle-income older adults. The project relocates the personal care neighborhood of Edgewood Grove to the fourth floor of St. John with 39 modernized apartments. It also creates 27 new, residential living apartments—The Residence of St. John.

“This project will not only help us grow, but most importantly, meet an unmet need in our community,” said Samantha Rapuk, Executive Director of St. John.

One of the first residents to move into the personal care neighborhood of Edgewood Grove will be Rapuk’s grandmother, 90-year-old, Alice Vogel. “It’s a real blessing to have my grandma so close to me,” says Rapuk. “We have such a close bond and I know she is being cared for by the best team.”Alice Vogel and Sam Rapuk

Construction began last summer with renovations to the top floor and the development of a dedicated entryway designed to provide access to the local community. The apartments are conveniently located a short distance from places of worship, restaurants, banks and pharmacies, as well as, quaint shops and boutiques.

The Residence at St. John features a fitness room, chef prepared meals, outdoor patios, lounges for socialization and a library. The personal care neighborhood of Edgewood Grove will deliver compassionate and dedicated care with 24-hour supervision in a home-like setting.

“We have worked very hard to provide this level of care to those looking for a home and are excited to be so close to welcoming new residents,” stated Tanya DeFranciscis, St. John’s Regional Marketing Manager.

The St. John Community is a continuing care community, and includes The Residence of St. John and Overbrook Pointe, residential living; Edgewood Grove, personal care; RoseCrest, assisted living with memory care, and St. John Specialty Care, skilled nursing.

A capital campaign is underway to support the construction of the expansion project. If you would like to make a donation, please contact Jane Bittcher at 724-316-5843 or
