Passavant Community Named Among Top 25 Senior Living Communities in North America by the International Council on Active Aging

JoAnn Clarkson, 87, a resident of the Lutheran SeniorLife Passavant Community, participates in one of the many ASPIRE Wellness classes offered on campus.

Lutheran SeniorLife is proud to announce that its Passavant Community has been recognized as one of the Top 25 Senior Living Communities in North America in the 2025 Best in Wellness Awards, presented jointly by the International Council on Active Aging (ICAA).

The prestigious Best in Wellness Award — often referred to as the industry’s Beacon Award — honors senior living organizations that foster exceptional cultures of whole-person wellness, empowering older adults to live with purpose, vitality, and independence.

“ASPIRE Wellness isn’t about checking boxes — it’s about knowing each resident personally and helping them live life on their own terms,” said Brian Damaska, Director of ASPIRE Wellness at Passavant Community. “When someone discovers they can lift more than they thought, learn something they never tried before, or simply finds joy in a shared moment — that’s real wellness. This award validates the heart our staff, residents and volunteers put into creating those moments every day.”

This national recognition places Passavant Community among an elite group of campuses demonstrating measurable excellence in all dimensions of wellness, including physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, social, environmental, and vocational well-being.

“This award affirms what our residents and staff already know — that Passavant is not just a place to live, but a place to thrive,” said Laura Roy, Executive Director, Lutheran SeniorLife Passavant Community. “Wellness isn’t a program here — it’s a way of life, and we are honored to be recognized on a national stage for that commitment.”
