Farmers’ Market Vouchers Available for Allegheny Seniors

Throughout the month of June, our PrimeTime Senior Center location will be spreading the word about Farmers Market Vouchers to Allegheny County seniors. The following information was taken from alleghenycounty.us/. 

The Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) provides $24 in vouchers to eligible Allegheny County residents aged 60 years and older on a first-come, first-served basis. The vouchers are redeemable though November at participating farmers’ markets and farm stands for Pennsylvania grown produce.

Please review the FMNP and SFMNP Rules for more details about using the vouchers and allowable produce.

Eligibility requirements

  • Allegheny County resident
  • 60 years of age or older (by December 31, 2020)
  • Meet the income guidelines (self-reported)
    • One-person household:  At or below $23,606
    • Two-person household:  At or below $31,894*
      *Married couples may each receive one set of checks
  • Older adults living in a residential facility that provides meals are not eligible to receive checks

To request an application for vouchers

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, vouchers will not be distributed at senior centers. Instead, applications for the vouchers can be completed on-line or requested in hard copy by email or phone. Completed applications for vouchers must be received no later than September 24 to be processed.

Beginning on June 16, and continuing until the supply is exhausted, vouchers will be sent by mail to eligible Allegheny County residents who complete an application by September 24.
