Fundraising Events Help Support the Abundant Life Mission

Recently, both Lutheran Service Society and the LIFE Programs held successful fundraising events to benefit their programming and services.

In February, Lutheran Service Society’s Center at the Mall hosted their annual Black Tie Bingo at the Fez in Hopewell Township. More than $7,200 was raised to help fund ongoing exercise classes, wellness programs and activities at the Center.

Bingo games were called by local celebrities including Randy Cosgrove, former announcer for the Pittsburgh Steelers; Rodney Harris, CEO of Prime Local, LLC-Media Company; Scott Tady, Beaver County Times entertainment editor; Mike Rubino, executive director of United Way; Marie Timpano, executive director of Cornerstone.

Terry Mann, executive director of Lutheran Service Society was very pleased with the event.

“We would like to express our gratitude for the continued support of the seniors in our community,” he said.

The 5th annual LIFE Programs Purse Bash held earlier this month was also tremendously successful, raising $13,000. Proceeds benefit the LIFE Blessings Program, which ensures that each of our 760 LIFE Program participants in Armstrong, Beaver, Butler and Lawrence counties receive a Christmas present.

The event, held at Shakespeare’s Restaurant and Pub in Ellwood City, was attended by 250 women, all eager to win a designer purse. In addition, they enjoyed lunch, a basket raffle and browsed the vendor tables.
