VNA, Western Pennsylvania Celebrates 60 Years of Service

This year marks a significant milestone for VNA-Western Pennsylvania as we celebrate six decades of providing compassionate, high-quality home health care to residents of Butler County and beyond.

Founded in 1965 as a community initiative led by dedicated volunteers and local physicians, VNA became the region’s first home health care agency. What began with a small team of nurses providing basic services—such as blood pressure checks, lab collection, and medication education—has grown into a comprehensive network of nearly 150 skilled nurses, aides, therapists, and support staff delivering advanced, patient-centered care.

“As we reflect on our 60-year journey, I want to express my sincere gratitude to our community for your trust and support,” said Margie Walsh, Executive Director of VNA-Western Pennsylvania. “Your confidence in our services has allowed us to care for countless individuals and families, often during their most vulnerable moments.”

Over the years, the landscape of home healthcare has evolved significantly. Patients are now discharged from hospitals sooner, requiring more complex and intensive in-home care. At the same time, increasing governmental and insurance regulations have presented challenges. Despite these changes, our commitment remains steadfast: to place our patients’ needs at the heart of everything we do.

“For six decades, families have turned to VNA for exceptional home health care. We are deeply honored to have played a role in your lives, and we extend our heartfelt thanks for your continued support,” elaborated Walsh.

To celebrate this milestone and help to ensure that VNA continues to provide exceptional home healthcare for 60 more years, the Lutheran SeniorLife Foundation has launched a fundraising campaign to raise $60,000 in support of the VNA.
