LIFE Armstrong County’s Creative Thanksgiving Parade

At LIFE Armstrong County, a familiar Thanksgiving season tradition unfolded with all the creativity and spectacle of the iconic Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade—albeit on a smaller scale. The LIFE Center organized its own Thanksgiving Day Parade, featuring hand-crafted floats created entirely by participants.

Divided into creative teams, participants received a remote-controlled car and were challenged to design their parade float. Themes for the float designs included “Patriotic,” “For the Kids,” “Turkey Tom,” and “Santa is Coming to Town,” which set the tone for the parade route. With unlimited access to the recreation craft cabinet, participants scoured for materials to create their own one-of-a-kind float.

“It was fun to see how creative everyone got,” said Robin Bowser, Recreation Therapy Manager for LIFE Armstrong County.

Participants were not only creators but also performers, proudly guiding their floats along the parade route. They were thrilled to share their creations; their vibrant display was a fitting tribute to the iconic Macy’s Thanksgiving Day celebration.

“This may become a new LIFE Armstrong tradition!” said Bowser.
