CRESP Food Box Program Underway

The CRESP Food Box Program has officially launched! In the first month of the program, more than 200 employees from 11 different work locations will receive 540 boxes of food.

The Crisis Employee Support Program or (CRESP) was designed by Healthcare Council of Western Pennsylvania with a limited grant from the RK Mellon Foundation to provide additional support for our employees who may be experiencing hardships, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Through the CRESP Food Box Program, Lutheran SeniorLife employees are eligible to receive up to three different types of food boxes each month at no charge:

  • Thrive Box: cereals, grains, canned goods
  • Dairy Box: milk, cheese, butter
  • Produce Box: fruits, vegetables

Special thanks go to the employees at each work location who are serving as a “site liaison” for the CRESP Food Box Program. These employees are ensuring that food requests are submitted on time each month, and they are coordinating the distribution of the requested boxes. The program would not be a success without them!

The site liaisons will use the contact information provided on the request forms to notify participating employees of the designated pick-up times for their food boxes. The first distribution will take place the week of October 26.

Employees can request food boxes for the coming month by using that month’s Survey Monkey link – which will be sent to all staff via email – or by completing a paper request form made available at each work location. The request process resets each month; previous requests will not automatically renew.

Although all employees are eligible for the CRESP Food Box Program, and there is no application criteria, it is primarily intended to assist those who need food for themselves and their families. This program will continue each month until the grant funds are exhausted.
