LIFE Program Open Houses Highlight Support for Seniors Living Safely at Home

April gave people a chance to see the Living Independence for the Elderly (LIFE) program up close and to understand it in a personal way.

Across Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, and Lawrence counties, LIFE centers hosted open houses that brought together prospective participants, families, and current members in a setting that felt both welcoming and honest. Guests spent time talking with staff, observing day-to-day activities, and asking practical questions about what support at home can really look like.

Each location offered entertainment, food, and informal activities, but the most valuable part of the day came through conversation. Participant ambassadors played an important role, sharing their own experiences. They spoke about how the program has helped them remain in their homes, manage health needs, and stay connected to others. For many visitors, hearing directly from someone living the experience made the purpose of LIFE easier to understand.

Education was a key focus throughout the events. Staff walked families through how the program coordinates care—from primary medical services and rehabilitation to transportation and social support. They explained how the interdisciplinary team works together to create individualized plans, helping participants maintain independence while ensuring their safety and well-being.

Living Independence for the Elderly (LIFE) is built on a simple but important idea: older adults can continue living at home with the right support in place. Instead of managing multiple providers alone, participants have access to a coordinated network designed to meet both medical and daily living needs. Just as importantly, the program creates opportunities for engagement, helping reduce isolation and strengthen a sense of community.

These open houses helped make that model visible. They gave families a clearer understanding of how support can be structured without taking away independence, and they allowed current participants to share the value of the program in their own words.

Thank you to Leslie Kisow, Executive Director of Community and LIFE Programs; Tyler Nuzzo, Regional Marketing Manager; Laura Kenaan, Director of Marketing & Community Relations; and the LIFE teams across all four counties for their continued commitment to this work and to the individuals and families they serve every day.
