Sarah Malogrino Awarded Prestigious LeadingAge Scholarship for Excellence in Senior Care Posted on June 25, 2025 Sarah Malogrino, CTRS, Recreation Therapy Manager at Lutheran SeniorLife Passavant Community, has been named a recipient of a LeadingAge PA scholarship—an honor that recognizes her dedication to enhancing the lives of older adults and her ongoing commitment to professional growth in the field of aging services. Malogrino was selected as one of the recipients from across Pennsylvania based on what LeadingAge PA describes as “a demonstrated commitment to advancing careers within aging services.” The scholarship will support her pursuit of a Master of Science in Recreational Therapy (MSRT) at Temple University. “Being an activity professional isn’t just about organizing events—it’s about creating meaningful moments that foster connection, joy, and well-being for our seniors,” said Malogrino. In her role, Malogrino supervises therapeutic recreation at Passavant Community designing therapeutic activities that promote engagement, independence, and an improved quality of life for residents in the nursing community. She said the decision to pursue her master’s degree stems from her desire to continue growing and ultimately be the best recreational therapist she can be. The scholarship will help fund her final two semesters at Temple, making it possible for her to continue working full-time while completing her education. “I was ecstatic to learn I was a recipient,” she said. “Working and going to school full-time is a lot of work, but receiving this made it feel like I was on the right track.” LeadingAge PA is a statewide association dedicated to advancing aging services through education, advocacy, and professional development.
