Dreams in Motion

Fort Pitt Museum Tour

When: Tuesday, October 29, 2013 - 10:00amWhere: Pittsburgh, PA

The Fort Pitt Museum, located in historic Point State Park, is a two-floor museum that tells the story of western Pennsylvania's pivotal role during the French and Indian War, the American Revolution and as the birthplace of Pittsburgh. The cost of the tour for seniors age 62 and over is $5. Lunch and shopping are on your own. Transportation is $8. Sign up at the Travel and Events Office at Passavant Retirement Community. Creative Movement Class

When: Friday, October 25, 2013 - 2:00pmWhere: Passavant Retirement Community, Scholl Auditorium

Explore the potential of the body and mind in this class designed for participants of all abilities and levels. No dance experience is necessary. The class begins with gentle body warm-ups followed by exploration of movement concepts for stretching and strength building through an artistic perspective. Duquesne Incline and Station Square Trip

Enjoy a great Pittsburgh afternoon visiting the Duquesne Incline and Station Square. The Incline ride and tour are free for seniors 65 and older, compliments of the Pennsylvania Lottery. Our Town Production

Fall Nautical Nature Boat Tour

When: Wednesday, September 25, 2013 - 11:00amWhere: Moraine State Park

Come and take a ride on Nautical Nature, a 37-pasenger enclosed pontoon boat and Moraine State Park's premier attraction. Enjoy learning about the area's natural history and osprey reintroduction, while appreciating the unique scenery and wildlife on an exciting trip around Lake Arthur. Nautical Nature is handicap accessible. Cost of transportation is $8 and cost of the tour is $19. There will be boxed lunches aboard. Fall Bridge Classes

When: Tuesday, September 24, 2013 - 10:00amWhere: In-Service Room

Bridge classes are available at Passavant Retirement Community this fall. All classes are Current American Standard System according to the ACBL (American Contract Bridge League). All of the texts used were written by the very qualified and well-known Audrey Grant and updated by Betty Starzec, Senior TAP teacher/trainer.

There is a charge of $60 per semester for each class series. Passavant Retirement Community members will receive a discounted rate of $5 per series. All classes will be held in the Overflow Dining Room at Passavant Retirement Community. Please call the instructor, June Morrison, at (724) 452-3686 at least 10 days prior to the class start date to register and order the text book if necessary. Classes are being scheduled in advance and may be cancelled if student enrollment is too low.

BRIDGE I - BASIC/BIDDING: This is the first of a Bridge class series, comprising nine sessions, and is an introductory class that concentrates on bidding. It is meant for beginners or those who wish to bring their bridge game up to date with current standards. Classes begin Wednesday, September 25, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and run each Wednesday through November 20.

BRIDGE II - PLAY OF THE HAND: This is the second in a Bridge class series, comprising nine sessions, and focuses on the play of the hand. This class is designed as a sequel to Bridge I. It is recommended that the student have taken the first course, although this one is designed to stand on its own for students with a basic knowledge of current Bridge standard bidding. Classes begin Tuesday, September 24, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and run each Tuesday through November 19.

BRIDGE III - DEFENSE: This is the third in a Bridge class series, comprising nine classes, and focuses on defense strategies. It is designed as a continuation to Bridge I and II. It is recommended that the student have taken the first and second courses, although this one is designed to stand on its own for students with a basic knowledge of current Bridge bidding and standards. Classes begin September 27, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and run each Friday through November 22.

MOIO's Italian Pastry Shop & Miracle Mile Shopping Center

When: Tuesday, September 24, 2013 - 9:00amWhere: Monroeville, PA

We will begin our day at Moio's Italian Pastry Shop, with tantalizing cakes, cookies, pastries and pies, then off for some shopping at the Miracle Mile Shopping Center. Cost of transportation is $8. Hartmann's Restaurant, The Waterhole

Collectible's Day

Do you have a collection you would like to share? If so, contact Pam at (724) 625-4712 by September 14. Collections will be displayed for all residents to enjoy. Some past collections have included cookie jars, lighthouses, dolls and old toys.

Ninth Annual Grandparent's Race

When: Saturday, September 14, 2013 - 7:30amWhere: Passavant Retirement Community

Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are invited to participate in the ninth annual Grandparent's Run. Proceeds from the 10-mile run, 5K run and walk and the 1-mile family fun run and walk benefit the Passavant Retirement Community benevolent care fund. Rogers Flea Market Trip

Rogers Flea Market is the largest open air market in the tri-state area, with more than five miles of outside vendor spaces and 350 vendors under roof. This will be more than a shopping spree, it will be a refreshing dip into rural Americana. Fresh produce, antiques and collectibles, food concessions, meats, cheeses, tools and more are available. Stohr Haus bakery & Walk-About

When: Thursday, September 12, 2013 - 9:00amWhere: Harmony, PA

How about combining your morning workout with a special destination and treat! We will take a short walk-about of Historic Harmony to work up an appetite for the Stohr Haus Bakery. After that, we will tour the bakery and lean a few German baking traditions and return back to the Fitness Center. Sign up in the Travel and Events Office by September 5. Gateway Clipper Sightseeing Tour

When: Tuesday, September 10, 2013 - 12:00pmWhere: Pittsburgh, PA

Come and learn about the city of Pittsburgh's past, present and future aboard a one-hour Gateway Clipper Fleet sightseeing cruise. Cost of transportation is $8. Cost of the tour is $20. Friends and Family Fun Day

Where: St. John Specialty Care Center Parking Lot

Join us for our annual St. John Specialty Care Center and RoseCrest Assisted Living Family and Friends Fun Day. There will be free food, door prizes, face painting, musical entertainment, kid's games, clowns and animal guests. Activities will be moved indoors in the event of inclement weather. Bluegrass and Old Time Music Festival

Come and have some fun at the Bluegrass and Old Time Music Festival at Bottlebrush: A Gallery for the Arts in Harmony.
