Carnegie Science Center Trip

Passavant Retirement Community residents are invited on a trip to the Carnegie Science Center. Grown-up kids age 65 and above can indulge their youthful spirit on Tuesdays with discounted prices. General admission is $5 and Omni films are just $5 more. Enjoy a special 20% discount for seniors in the River View Cafe all day long. Special exhibits for March include the Miniature Railroad Village opening for its 90th season. It features hundreds of wonderfully realistic animated scenes that illustrate how people lived, worked and played in our region during an era spanning the 1880's to the late 1930's. A replica of the historic Manchester Farms is the latest gem added to this extraordinary display. There is also the Highmark SportsWorks exhibit which includes 30 hands-on exhibits exploring and discovering the physics of sports, nutrition and health. On display also is Roboworld where you will learn how robots sense, think and act. Omnimax Theater featured films are "To the Arctic" and "Flight of the Butterflies." Cost of transportation is $8. Let's go investigate this new Italian restaurant in Seven Fields. This is a Passavant Retirement Community Personal Care/Newhaven Court outing, but others are welcome if space allows. Cost of transportation is $4 and lunch is on your own.
First Annual LIFE Program Purse Bash
When: Saturday, March 01, 2014 - 11:00amWhere: Center Social Hall, Aliquippa, PA
The LIFE Programs in Beaver, Butler and Lawrence Counties will hold the first annual LIFE Programs Purse Bash on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the Center Social Hall in Aliquippa. Doors open at 11 a.m. All proceeds are directed toward the LIFE Blessings Program, which benefits the more than 400 seniors enrolled in the LIFE Programs.
Tickets are $25 and include lunch and five chances to win authentic designer purses as well as other opportunities to win purses and accessories by Coach, Vera Bradley and more. Attendees will also have the opportunity to purchase unique gift and craft items and to enter to win a gift basket.

'The Bible' Miniseries

'The Bible' is an epic 10-part miniseries re-telling stories from the scriptures for a whole new generation. Breathtaking in scope and scale, 'The Bible" features powerful performances, exotic locales and dazzling visual effects.
Overbrook Pointe residents are invited to receive free blood pressure screenings and information on heart healthy living from staff from the VNA (Visiting Nurses Association), western Pennsylvania.

We will meet once a month for tea with our personal care residents and children from Portersville Christian School. Additional dates include March 25 and April 15.
Jazz Band Concert
When: Friday, February 14, 2014 - 6:00pmWhere: North Allegheny Senior High School
Passavant Retirement Community residents are invited to enjoy an evening of jazz with the Jazz Band students at North Allegheny High School. Cost of transportation is $8 and the show is free. Sign up at the Travel and Events Office.
Residents at Overbrook Pointe are invited to take part in the Travel the World Dining Journey. Each monthly dinner will feature internationally inspired cuisine. Those who attend all 12 events will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a Captain's Dinner for six.
February's theme is Paris, The City of Love.
Be My Valentine Cookie Drop-Off

This Valentine's Day, show your love for our first responders. The Fitness Center is coordinating a "Be My Valentine" Cookie Drop-Off to show our appreciation for our local Harmony Emergency Medical Service. We're asking residents and employees who enjoy baking to consider bringing two or three dozen homemade cookies to the Fitness Center by 3 p.m. Feel free to include a card or note with your cookies to show your affection for those who run to our aid when there is an emergency. Please package the cookies in sturdy disposable wrapping. Contact the Fitness Center if you plan to participate.
Pittsburgh Banjo Club

NAMI Family Support Group

This group is in support of families and friends of persons with a serious mental illness. We will be meeting in a confidential setting for support of one another. Learn of resources, training and education available in the community. Occasionally, there will be speakers who are experts in the field of serious mental illnesses. Family members and friends will be given information on any conferences, workshops and webinars locally and throughout the state that they can attend. Additional dates include March 11 and April 8.
