RoseCrest Shows Support at the Annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s

Fall is a great time to be outside and enjoy the coolness in the air, the beautiful colors, and take long walks, especially if there is a great cause to support.  This is how the RoseCrest team felt as they participated in the Annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s at Butler Community College on Sept. 15.

Ten team members consisting of employees, their families, and residents’ families all came together raising $400 to support those afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease.

Debbie Serafine, Director of Residential Living at RoseCrest, part of the St. John Community, organized the efforts on behalf of the residents at RoseCrest.  She stated, “Working in a facility that focuses on memory support, we see first-hand how devastating this disease is, not only to the individual that has been diagnosed, but also to their family.  Raising awareness and support to find a cure is extremely important to help reduce the number of people suffering from this terrible disease, and walking is one way we can help.”

The Alzheimer’s Association has a well-planned walk in numerous locations every fall.  The process to register and donate is simple.  A favorite part of the walk for many is the garden created by pinwheel flowers etched with the names of loved ones of those at the event.

This was Debbie’s first year of organizing this event and she has plans to involve more people in the system next year, so please consider participating.  Look for more information next summer.
