Passavant Community Holds Centenarian Celebration

More than 70 residents were recognized for longevity at Passavant Community’s “Celebrating Life” event on Friday, Sept. 27.

The event honored those 95 years of age or older with seven residents receiving special acknowledgment for reaching the milestone of at least 100 years.

“You might be interested to know that well over 172 residents on this campus are at least 90 years old,” said Laura Roy, executive director of Passavant Community. “70 are at least 95 years old and seven are the richest among us as they celebrate at least 100 years.”

The highlight of the event was a video tribute to longevity featuring the seven centenarians take on joy.

After the ceremony, each resident received a sun catcher in the shape of the Tree of Life to honor the beautiful life they’ve lived.

Alvin Graf, 101-year-old Passavant Community resident added, “What brings me joy is the wonderful history that I’ve had and being exposed to the wonderful things of life – to see what I’ve seen.”

Graf passed approximately one month before the ceremony.

The video tribute was dedicated in loving memory of him.
