Specialized Medical Services

When you are ready to be discharged from the hospital, yet are not prepared to return home, Lutheran SeniorLife is here to provide you with the specialized nursing care you need to make the best recovery possible. As a faith-based organization, Lutheran SeniorLife strives to help every patient in our communities live a full and abundant life. Our goal is not only to meet the physical needs of a patient but their emotional and spiritual needs as well.

At St. John Specialty Care Center and Passavant Retirement Community, a goal-oriented treatment approach is implemented to help the patient transition to the best setting based on their needs. The skilled multi-disciplinary team is comprised of nurses, physicians, therapists, social workers, dieticians, clergy, and others. By employing caring, experienced and skilled health care professionals, we are able to offer the highest quality care to our residents.

Our range of specialized medical services includes:
• Wound management
• Post-surgical complications
• Multi-system disease
• Enteral nutrition
• Intravenous management
• Pain management
• Neurological management
• Palliative care
• Dementia management
• Pulmonary - respiratory management

At Lutheran SeniorLife, an interdisciplinary team develops a plan of care that monitors the progress and treatment of the patient's condition throughout recovery. This team coordinates the plan of care with the patient's physician, specialists and family. This ensures the delivery of care is effective, efficient, and results in the best possible outcome.

The integral balance of medical, respiratory and rehabilitative services allows Lutheran SeniorLife to provide quality services. Additionally, our continuum of care enables patients to progress through various stages of recovery in one location. Perhaps most importantly, our faith-based ministry is the foundation of our quality of care. We recognize that in many cases, our patients' faith and spiritual values can be a powerful complement to medical care. Our professional staff includes chaplains who minister to our residents, patients and their families. Our chaplains also provide the spiritual guidance that can be of great comfort to residents, patients and their families when they are not feeling their best.
