Infant Phototherapy

As part of our commitment to enhancing the health of patients of all ages, VNA offers an innovative and comprehensive phototherapy program that allows infants diagnosed with jaundice to be tested and treated safely at home.

Through the use of Respironics’ Wallaby® Phototherapy System and BiliChek® Noninvasive Bilirubin System, newborns can receive painless, stress-free phototherapy that eliminates the risks associated with conventional bilirubin lights as well as unnecessary trips to the laboratory or doctor’s office.

Respironics Wallaby Phototherapy System

The Wallaby provides phototherapy via a blanket that is wrapped around the infant’s torso, allowing the baby to be held or fed without interrupting therapy and eliminating the need to shield their eyes from harmful infrared or ultraviolet light. At only 7.2 pounds, the unit can also be easily transported.

Respironics BiliChek Noninvasive Bilirubin Analyzer

The noninvasive BiliChek system uses light rather than a needle to measure total serum, eliminating the need for painful heel-stick blood tests. The compact, handheld Bilichek® sensor is placed on the newborn’s forehead for a few seconds, and the bilirubin level is displayed automatically on the instrument’s LED panel.

Our specialists provide training for mothers and caregivers on use of theses devices and are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week to answer any questions they may have.
