Next month, Lutheran Service Society's two Meals on Wheels kitchens in Beaver County (Rochester and Aliquippa) will take part in March for Meals.
This 15th annual campaign is led by Meals on Wheels America, and gives businesses, organizations, governments and volunteers the opportunity to help raise awareness and support for our local homebound seniors.
Through the Beaver County Meals on Wheels program, volunteers deliver meals to those with physical or financial limitations that prevent them from planning and preparing their own meals. Additionally, volunteers offer a smile and a safety check for each client to be sure their home surroundings are safe.
"March is a time for us all to rally around Meals on Wheels," said Ellie Hollander, president and CEO of Meals on Wheels America. "Our ability to meet the needs of the vulnerable seniors lies in the willingness and generoisty of businesses, government and concerned individuals of all ages to contribute in their own way. It not only makes economic sense to enable seniors to stay healthy and safe at home, but it improves the health and vibrancy of our communities and nation at large."
