Passavant Community received a 5-star rating during their most recent survey by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). CMS star ratings spotlight excellence in health care quality. Nursing homes awarded five stars are considered to have a much above average quality.
The 5-Star rating system was developed by CMS as a tool to help consumers and their family members compare local nursing homes. When determining a facility's star rating, surveyors take into account health inspections from the last three years, quality measures, and the number of hours of care provided daily to each resident.
In addition to being impressed with the care provided at Passavant Community, the CMS representatives were eager to visit the new Abundant Life Center. "This is a new concept for some of the surveyors," said Laura Roy, executive director at Passavant Community. "They are not used to seeing a household setting. There are not many on this side of the state."
The five star rating marks what has proven to be a very dynamic period of transition for Passavant Community, with the inception of the new Abundant Life Center. "The team has worked unbelievably hard. I am thrilled for their accomplishment," Roy said. "This is the acknowledgement of their hard work."
