The Meals on Wheels program in Rochester and Aliquippa, Beaver County, part of Lutheran SeniorLife’s family of community-based programs run by Lutheran Service Society, have been selected to receive a $2,000 grant from Meals on Wheels America for its successful participation in the March for Meals Community Champions Week in March.
“It’s because of your hard work and dedication that this year’s March for Meals was the most successful yet. Your creativity and resourcefulness are truly inspiring. I have no doubt that the ripple effects of nearly 400 local celebrations, and the participation of more than 2,600 Community Champions will help to bolster the collective Meals on Wheels effort and help us all address the challenges ahead,” said Ellie Hollander, president and CEO of Meals on Wheels America.
The March for Meals campaign is intended to raise awareness of Meals on Wheels programs by engaging community leaders, inviting them to help package and deliver meals to home-bound seniors who rely on the program for proper nutrition and social interaction.
The grant was made possible by the continued generosity of Subaru, the national sponsor of the 2015 March for Meals campaign.
