Passavant Residents Celebrate the Season

Published: Thursday, December 12, 2013

Passavant Retirement Community residents, staff and their families celebrated the joys of the Christmas season on December 7 at Abundant Lights: A Passavant Christmas Festival.

The evening was highlighted by the Celebration of Christmas Spirit ceremony in Scholl Auditorium where residents present and past were honored.

“This is a celebration of all those who have touched our lives,” said Laura Roy, executive director at Passavant Retirement Community. She explained that each of the handmade lanterns around campus were sponsored “in honor or memory of people who are very near and dear to our hearts,” with proceeds benefiting Passavant’s benevolent care fund. The names of each were read aloud.

Lutheran SeniorLife President and CEO, David Fenoglietto, described the ceremony as a “powerful moment,” adding, “These people and all of our residents enrich our lives and bring us joy every day.”

Visitors to the event also had the opportunity to take part in the gift basket raffle, explore the model train display, watch a magic show, take a horse-drawn carriage ride, visit with Santa, purchase handmade candy and crafts, and enjoy entertainment provided by the Passavant Singers and the Butler Notables and more.

Special thanks to all employees who worked tirelessly to make the Abundant Lights Festival a success again this year.
