Travel the World Dining Journey

Residents at Overbrook Pointe are invited to take part in the Travel the World Dining Journey. Each monthly dinner will feature internationally inspired cuisine. Those who attend all 12 events will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a Captain's Dinner for six.

December's theme is Winter Holidays on a Scandinavian Cruise.

B.E. Taylor Christmas Concert

Join us for this special holiday performance by B.E. Taylor. All proceeds benefit VNA Inpatient Hospice. General admission tickets are $35 in advance or $40 at the door. Meet & Greet with reserved seating tickets are $50, and include refreshments and an autograph session at 6 p.m. Donations to assist the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program will be accepted at the door. Holiday Decorating Party

Where: 4th Floor Activity Room, St. John Specialty Care Center

Everyone is welcome to help the St. John Specialty Care Center activity department elves decorate for the holidays. Come with a Ho-Ho-Ho in your heart and help us make St. John look cheery for our residents and staff.

Christmas Card Selection Day

When: Friday, November 29, 2013 -
2:00pm to 4:00pm
Where: Creekside Path Dining Room, St. John Specialty Care Center

St. John Specialty Care Center residents in need of Christmas cards to give to family and friends can come pick out free cards at our annual card selection day. Also, any resident in need of help signing or addressing their cards can bring their address book along, and the activity staff and volunteers will provide assistance.

Heinz History Center Trip

When: Friday, November 22, 2013 - 10:00amWhere: Pittsburgh, PA

From the pre-revolutionary drama of the French and Indian War to the legendary match-ups of the Super Steelers, discover 250 years of Pittsburgh history at the Senator John Heinz History Center. During your visit, there will be a special exhibit called Pennsylvania's Civil War, an in-depth look at Pennsylvania's significant role during the Civil War which highlights the state's contributions to important conflicts such as the Battle of Gettysburg. This exhibit showcases Pittsburgh's role as the "Arsenal of the Union" and the impact western Pennsylvania had on the war both on the battlefield and on the homefront. The exhibition is a key component in a series of History Center programs and publications developed in partnership with the Pennsylvania Civil War 150, the statewide initiative to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall Trip

The Soldiers and Sailors Military Museum honors the men and women of all branches of the military. Within this stately structure are exhibits displaying military artifacts and personal mementos, a concert hall that seats 2,300 guests, a classically elegant ballroom, The Gettysburg Room which is dedicated to the Civil War and the Hall of Valor which pays tribute to American Heroes.
