Excellence is Ageless Gala and Awards Dinner

Join the Lutheran SeniorLife Foundation as we celebrate Abundant Life® at the 11th annual Excellence is Ageless Gala and Award Celebration. This signature event has provided more than $1.2M for benevolent care, making a profound difference in the lives of those served by Lutheran SeniorLife.

We have the privilege of recognizing two Excellence is Ageless Honorees - The Honorable Tom Ridge and Mark H. Wholey, M.D. Mr. Ridge served our country as the first secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and former Governor of Pennsylvania, and is a decorated Vietnam veteran. He is currently President and CEO of Ridge Global, an international security and risk management firm. Dr. Wholey is an internationally recognized interventional radiologist, co-founder of MEDRAD, an inventor of the Wholey Wire used in vascular procedures, and currently is Director of the Center for Vascular and Neurovascular Interventions at Allegheny General Hospital.

Passavant Retirement Community residents are invited to enjoy a great day of shopping with impressive savings at the Grove City Outlet stores. There are 130 retailers including Coldwater Creek, Ralph Lauren, Nike, Pole, J. Crew, Guess, Brooks Brothers and many more. Cost of transportation is $8, shopping and lunch are on your own. The Birthday Party Experience

When: Monday, April 21, 2014 - 1:30pmWhere: Fitness Center, Passavant Retirement Community

One thing that we all have in common is a birthday. So, regardless of when it is, spend the afternoon with us as we celebrate everyone's special day. Join in on the birthday party essentials, such as birthday cake, ice cream, a pinata, singing, and Pin the Tail on the Fitness Instructor.

Rivers Casino Trip

Passavant Retirement Community residents are invited to enjoy a day out at Rivers Casino. Cost of transportation is $8, gaming and lunch are on your own. You will receive perks of $15 in free play and a $5 food coupon. Sign up at the Travel and Events Office.

Travel the World Dining Journey

When: Tuesday, April 15, 2014 - 5:00pmWhere: Overbrook Pointe Dining Room

Residents at Overbrook Pointe are invited to take part in the Travel the World Dining Journey. Each monthly dinner will feature internationally inspired cuisine. Those who attend all 12 events will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a Captain's Dinner for six.

April's theme is Tulips in Holland.

Air Heritage Museum Trip

When: Tuesday, April 15, 2014 - 10:00amWhere: Beaver County Airport

Passavant Retirement Community residents are invited to visit Air Heritage Museum, where aircraft from the past will guide you through the rich history of flights. Images of wings, beating propellers and blaring radial engines send some visitors reeling into memories of challenges bravely met in the past, while others are able to admire the acts that have led to today's flight technology. There are wonderful artifacts which include aviation-related displays from the early days of aviation to the present; civilian, commercial and military artifacts; Japanese and German artifacts from WWII. The cost of transportation is $8, museum tour is free. Sign up at the Travel and Events Office.

VNA 9th Annual Friendship Luncheon

When: Saturday, April 12, 2014 - 11:00amWhere: Butler Country Club

Join us for the 9th annual Friendship Luncheon to benefit VNA Hospice and VNA Inpatient Hospice patients and their families. This year's luncheon will feature a Breakfast at Tiffany's theme, so come dressed in your best for a divine and utterly happy time! Tickets are $40 per person. Mozart Festival

We will be celebrating the opening production of the Mozart Festival with Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra with our very own Mozart Festival. Erin Lynn, group sales director for the Orchestra, will join us in celebrating. There will be food, giveaways and much more. Then on April 28, you have the chance to attend the Mozart Festival at the Scottish Rite Cathedral in New Castle, PA.

Phipp's Conservatory Trip

When: Friday, April 11, 2014 - 10:00amWhere: Pittsburgh, PA

It is time to look forward to new growth at the Spring Flower Show. Cost of transportation is $8 and tickets are $11. We will have lunch at the cafe at Phipp's, the cost is on your own. This is a Passavant Retirement Community Personal Care/Newhaven Court outing, but others are welcome if space allows.

Excellence is Ageless Artist Reception and Art Display

When: Wednesday, April 09, 2014 -
11:30am to 2:30pm
Where: Passavant Retirement Community, Scholl Auditorium

Please plan on coming to the Artist Reception and Artwork Display honoring the residents and friends that created the artwork and/or gifted items for the Excellence is Ageless silent auction. Artists will be on hand, as well as their work which includes original paintings; photographs; knitted, crocheted and stitched items; sewing; pottery; hand-crafted wood work and metal work items and much more. This artwork magnificently demonstrates the abundant life experienced by friends and residents at Passavant Retirement Community. These items will enhance the charitable contributions received from the Excellence is Ageless Gala and thereby strengthen the mission of Lutheran SeniorLife to elders. Light refreshments will be served.

Pittsburgh Zoo Presentation

When: Friday, April 04, 2014 - 2:30pmWhere: Passavant Retirement Community, Scholl Auditorium

Furs, pelts, skills, skins, feathers and other touchable animal biofacts will provide participants with the opportunity to feel different textures, observe different patterns and learn more about animals from all over the world. The audience will then be introduced to three small live animals from the Zoo's education department.

House of Chen Trip

Passavant Retiement Community residents are invited to join us on this trip to a local Chinese restaurant with great atmosphere. Transportation is $4, lunch is on your own.

Southern Airs Gospel Music

Enjoy a great evening of Gospel music with the Southern Airs Gospel singing group. Their music will lift your spirits and bring joy to your heart.

BG Book Fair

Come and browse the latest books, CD's, gifts and spring items at discount prices. This is a fundraiser and the proceeds will benefit our residents in personal care and nursing at the Christmas Shops in 2014. The book sale is open to all residents, staff, family and friends.

Brown Bears of Alaska

Katmai Alaska has the world's highest concentrtion of brown bears per square mile. Travel there for a slide show adventure you will never forget. Presentation by Linda Thompson.

Kraynak's Trip

When: Thursday, March 27, 2014 - 10:00amWhere: Hermitage, PA

We will go to lunch at Bob Evans in Hermitage, then head to Kraynak's to view the Easter display. Come and enjoy this annual tradition and take a walk down Bunny Lane. There is a store with toys, gifts, flowers and candy. Transportation is $8 and lunch is on your own.

Pancake Breakfast

Where: Passavant Retirement Community, Wittenberg Activity Room

Start the day with delicious homemade pancakes with syrup, sausage, juice and coffee all for only $2. Please make reservations in the Wittenberg Activity Room or at the Travel and Events Office.

The Fantasticks

Passavant Retirement Community residents are invited to see a legend in its own time, "The Fantasticks," the longest running musical in history. A simple romantic comedy about a boy, a girl, their meddling fathers and the wall that divides them, "The Fantasticks" is crafted with charming simplicity, captivating music and whimsy. This timeless tale, presented in the popular Steampunk style, will ignite your imagination, delight your senses and leave you completely fulfilled. Whether you are revisiting this beloved musical or seeing it for the first time, it guarantees entertainment. Cost of transportation is $8 and tickets are $20. Please sign up at the Travel and Events Office no later than March 19.

Coffee Hour at the Foundation
