Resident Testimonials - Passavant Retirement Community
Pr. Reinhold "Dutch" Weber has been associated with Passavant Retirement Community dating back to the 1960's when he served on the board of directors. When it came time to retire, he knew there was no place he would rather be.
“I preach quite often around campus. I play all sorts of sports, and at age 89, that helps a lot!” He also helps produce and distribute the campus newsletter and does programming voice-overs at PRC-TV, Passavant’s own television station.
“There’s so much to do. It’s a meaningful schedule of all kinds of learning opportunities. It stretches the mind beyond just the normal activities.”
From the time June Morrison moved to Passavant Retirement Community, she was encouraged to begin teaching Bridge classes. She now teaches three classes a week to both Passavant residents and community members.
“Whatever you want to do around here, they are going to help you do it in any way they can. Everybody here wants us to have the most abundant lives possible. That feeling permeates the campus.”
June has also written and published her first book, Are You Smarter Than Your Dog?, which she sells locally and on the internet.
Bill Fugate was attracted to Passavant Retirement Community, in part, because of its proximity to the town of Zelienople. “I fell in love with the town. Its very friendly, easy to walk to and has a lot of conveniences.”
He also appreciates Passavant's willingness to accommodate his existing hobbies, allowing him to erect an amateur radio antenna behind his home, and creating a wood shop and metal-working forge for residents campus-wide to enjoy.
