A new bus is making its rounds through Zelienople, Cranberry and all through the Passavant Retirement Community campus, thanks to generous donations from the PRC Auxiliary and residents.
Passavant Retirement Community already had two buses in circulation, but needed a third bus to drive on resident pleasure trips and appointments in the Cranberry and North Hills areas.
Thirteen residents were invited to participate in the bus selection process. “I wanted to receive input from residents from different living levels, and with different ambulatory needs on our campus,” said Sherri Dinello, transportation supervisor. It was important, she said, to be sure that the new bus could accommodate everyone’s individual needs. Input was also taken from the drivers of the existing buses.
A choice was finally made, and the new bus was delivered in late 2011. The PRC Auxiliary donation of $20,000 and resident donations of $10,000 covered close to half the total purchase price.
“We owe a big ‘thank you’ to all who made these donations!” Dinello said.
(from L to R) Passavant Retirement Community residents Dorothy Asimakis, Sr. Gladys Reidenouer, Caroline Wheaton, Bingham Taylor, Midge Patterson, Mary McGinnis, Twila Bakken and Joan Taylor were instrumental in the bus selection process.
