St. John Specialty Care Center Alzheimer's Care
The Alzheimer's Care Center at St. John's consists of a four-phase program developed specifically to address each resident's needs at each stage of the disease. Although the symptoms and progression of Alzheimer’s can vary greatly, residents are regularly assessed by a professional team to determine the level of care that will most benefit them.
Personal Care Program
This program is most appropriate for those residents who have difficulty performing daily living activities as a result of short-term memory loss. St. John provides these residents with treatment focused on utilizing specialized activities and therapies as appropriate to each individual.
Intermediate Care Program
During the intermediate stage, residents become increasingly confused and frustrated. St. John provides these residents with treatment specifically designed to expand environmental and therapeutic support by incorporating activities, cueing and visual aids.
Comprehensive Care Program
Increasingly complex physical conditions at this stage require enhanced medical treatment and physical therapy. Activities are designed to accommodate a less ambulatory lifestyle, focusing on sensory pleasures and relaxation.
Behavioral Intervention Program
This program is for residents experiencing behavioral challenges as a result of a primary dementia diagnosis. This short-term program focuses on residents regaining physical and social interactive skills with a goal of transitioning them to an appropriate setting. |
