Faith-Based Services
"I came that they may have life, and have it more abundantly." - John 10:10
As a Social Ministry Organization, Lutheran SeniorLife touches more than 200 congregations throughout the Southwestern Pennsylvania Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Though not every congregation directly receives services, most are touched in some way.
Lutheran SeniorLife is an educational and informational resource – a gift to our communities – which can help people identify services and options for a loved one. Our staff regularly visits with pastors and congregations to provide information on financial planning for seniors, health and wellness advice and methods of selecting long term care or home care services.
In addition, a full-time chaplaincy service brings great peace to our residents and families. Our weekly worship services held on the nursing units at St. John Specialty Care Center were awarded the 2010 "Nursing Unit Worship Service Best Practices Meritorious Award" by the National Council on Aging Interfaith Coalition on Aging. Members of surrounding communities are always welcome at worship services, bible studies and prayer groups held at any of the Lutheran SeniorLife locations.
Lutheran SeniorLife has also stepped forward to fund a Health and Wellness Ministry Initiative sponsored by the Southwestern Pennsylvania Synod of the Evangelical Church in America. Responding to a need expressed by congregation members and pastors around the Synod, the program helps congregations develop parish nursing and health ministries under synod leadership.
