Luther SeniorLife Foundation

History

In 1986 the Passavant Retirement and Health Center and the St. John Lutheran Care Center, both located within ten miles of each other in southern Butler County, Pennsylvania, forged an alliance and brought their complementary ministries of care for seniors together under one organization that was called Lutheran Affiliated Services.

At the time, both facilities held outstanding reputations in the senior care community for nearly 100 years. Together, a shared vision and ministry would be an even greater asset to the community, church and all seniors in the region.

Now called Lutheran SeniorLife, the organization has since expanded its ministry and services to offer a continuum of care to seniors of all ages, abilities, and financial circumstances. It has pioneered innovations in senior living, such as:

• A "nursing home without walls" where seniors can continue to live independently in their own home
• The region's premier Alzheimer's Care program
• Specially-designed villas and manor homes that enable seniors to live independently
• A "Main Street" program that enables residents to participate in a dynamic community of services and special interest programs for seniors

Today, Lutheran SeniorLife is aggressively working to develop new concepts, programs and opportunities in senior care and independent living that will further advance its mission of helping all seniors live a full and abundant life.
